Strengthening the partnership in aviation between the EU and South Asia

This one-week workshop is designed to facilitate participants achieve progress with regard to CORSIA implementation and enhance their knowledge regarding carbon emissions offsetting, the potential role of SAF and State Actions Plans (SAP)

A one-week workshop is designed to provide capacity building and support to focal points from aviation authorities and relevant organizations involved in CORSIA implementation and in the development of SAF and State Action Plans in South Asian States. 

The workshop aims at updating participants on the latest developments in CORSIA implementation, including the amendments of the CORSIA SARPs and enhancing their understanding with practical exercises of the future impact from offsetting requirements to aeroplane operators in the region.

In addition to CORSIA, the workshop will provide the opportunity for participants to understand the role of up-to-date state action plans with ambitious and concrete national action to reduce aviation emissions in line with the ICAO Assembly Resolution and to serve to monitor the progress for the achievement of ICAO Member States’ collective LTAG. 

As a continuation of the successful workshop on Sustainable Aviation Fuels held in India in March 2023, the workshop will include sessions to further assist participants learn about the role and the challenges related to the development and deployment of sustainable aviation fuels. The aim is to help participants from the different states identify potential opportunities for implementing SAF in the South Asian region and to understand the role of SAF claims by aeroplane operators in carbon market-based schemes such as CORSIA.
